I wish I could tell you that I put on some fabulous dress and went to some hip or trendy party for New Year's, but I didn't. I spent New Years with Callahan and her 5 kids. We started celebrating about 7pm. Way too early. Callahan crashed about 10pm and by the time it was 10:30 I was making deals with the kids to go to bed and I would set my alarm to wake them up at midnight. It worked!! Truthfully, I was happy to see 2007 go. Let's just say it was and interesting year. But I am so excited to start 2008. More Later.

Home
I am so excited to be back in Colorado today. I have not made it back to Aspen just yet. I arrived very late into Denver last night and didn't want to risk the 3 1/2 hour drive back up to Aspen. I decided to stay in Denver overnight. I woke up to a blizzard and it took me almost 2 hours to get out of Denver and 7 hours to arrive in Aspen. Koby did great on his flight as well as Maggie. I decided today to visit Crumbs cupcakes in the city one last time. I managed to smuggle a dozen cupcakes home with me and I am happy to report they made it just fine too. The landscape in Aspen has changed considerably since I left a month ago. The town has a thick blanket of snow and is full of visitors. I love to travel and will always remember my adventure to the big city but it is so wonderful to be home. More later.

Long Island Christmas
Today I woke up to a beautiful morning here in New York. It is a bright and sunny day. It is absolutely exhilarating to be here in the city on Christmas Day. Tomorrow I am traveling back to Aspen but today I am traveling to Long Island via the LIRR to visit a friend. This small journey reminded me of my childhood. The homes, people and the importance of family on holidays. There were two adorable children and I loved watching them open their Christmas gifts. I was happy to meet Sophie and her little cabbage patch doll. Sophie who is 8 and this little doll had matching outfits and were just adorable. While visiting this lovely Long Island family I realize how exotic my life has become. I absolutely love to live outside of the box and to create my life by my own rules. Merry Christmas to me! Wicked
Last night I went to the Gershwin theater to see Wicked. Callahan told me that I reminded her of Galinda. I needed to see if there was any truth to this. It was truly amazing. The costumes, the talent and I loved the flying monkeys. The costumes were so elaborate and beautiful. I could only imagine the man hours it took to make all of those costumes. While I was being entertained and delighted in my seat I was wondering how do they do these shows every night with such intensity. I was thinking they probably do two shows some days. I highly recommend anyone and everyone to see this fabulous play. My only request is that you not wear jeans to the theater!!! I mean come on. I understand there are quite a bit of visitors here in the city but wearing ripped, faded jeans to the Gershwin Theater?? One of my favorite things about New York is that people dress. I love that. In my humble opinion I think we have become to casual. Dressing up is cool, wearing jeans to the theater is not! More later.

My DNA
I have been blessed with entrepreneurial DNA. Being here in the city has it on overdrive. Everywhere I look are brilliant ideas. This has helped me tremendously with defining ZGirl and what the company will represent. I am so excited to get back to Aspen and put things into motion. I am pretty much finished with Christmas shopping and am just going to enjoy my last week here. Koby now pulls me in the direction of the park every morning. He also knows when he is done going for a walk and stops to let me know that it is time to go home. He is so cute. Maggie loves watching the pigeons fly by the window and has become fascinated with water running from the sink. I have great plans to go out to Long Island and spend Christmas with a big family with lots of kids. Life is great.

What a difference a day makes
Yesterday was just one of those days where everything was in my favor. It was a great day to be me. Today I woke up and did my usual. Walk and feed Koby. Play with Maggie and today I treated myself to a Vanilla Latte at Starbucks. I decided since the stars are in alignment with me I should look for my black boots today. After looking around for a bit I decided to go to Barney's. Major score. They had a really big sale on their shoes and boots. There was one pair of Prada Suede black boots left. Better yet, they were marked down 60%. I bought them for next to nothing. When I returned home with my purchase I grabbed Koby and walked to a little street fair going on at the Park to do some Christmas shopping. It's a place where they sell Christmas items. Most of the stuff is hand made and pretty nice. One of the ladies who I will now call my best friend asked if I was a model. I hope this streak decides to stick around for a while. More later.
P.S. - I think I will be Jello Wrestling this Sunday night!!!

Burger Club

Last night I met up with some people for Burger Night. It is a once a month get-together that a friend of mine here in the city decided to start up. The burger club met at the Parker Meridian hotel. Behind a velvet curtain in the lobby of this hotel is a very informal burger joint. It is said to be the best in town. When I arrived it was packed and there was a line out the door extending into the lobby. I don't even know the name of this place. The burgers were great, so were the fries and the company was even better. I wore my new Piazza Sempione coat. I really wanted to look good for my burger. Since this place is one block away from where I am staying, I will definitely be going back real soon. More later.

I Hate Shopping
Last night I walked over to Saks to return something and made a realization about myself. I hate to shop. Actually I despise it. It's exhausting, it's overwhelming and it can be very disappointing. But last night I realized also that I absolutely love collecting beautiful things. The kind of beautiful things that make your heart sing. Sort of like finding your soul mate but only with a certain coat, or skirt or great hat. You hear angels singing in the background and you know in your heart that it was meant to be. Of course when it's on sale, like 50% off it's like meeting the man of your dreams and he's a billionaire who rescues puppies on the weekends and he is totally into you. Big time!! So today I woke up deciding that I no longer will shop. I will collect. More later.

Half-way

I am really enjoying dressing here in New York. It's very different then Aspen. There have been several different looks that I have spotted on the street that I just couldn't pull-off in Aspen, especially with all the snow Aspen is getting right now. My box never did arrive, so I decided to cancel my mail forwarding so that it doesn't get lost somewhere between here and there. I dragged Callahan to pick out some things to get me through my trip. I am half-way through my month here in New York and it has been amazing. My girlfriend Elizabeth is flying in tonight and I am excited to spend time with her. She is very familiar with the big apple and I am excited to see the city through her eyes. Koby has had quite a few angels watching over him this week. Twice I tied him out while I ran into a store for a couple of minutes only to come out and find someone watching him until I returned. Today it was 2 very beautiful society women who had their phones out to call the police. They thought I had abandoned him. I was in the drug store buying paper towels for all of 10 minutes. Koby rode an escalator today and didn't care for it so he decided to try to sit down only to start falling backwards when a women came out of no where and caught him. Everyone loves him and wants to pet him. Koby is all-in-all very unimpressed with it. More later.

I love New York
I have been in the city for a week and a half and I love it. I am in my apartment watching the snow come down in Central Park with my little cat Maggie sleeping on my arm. Koby and I just came back from the Nike store on 57th and 5th. Koby to my surprise has been very well received in most stores including Nike. As a matter of fact he is like a rock star in some stores. I love to see people enjoy my dog as much as I do. Last night I went to a great restaurant called Cafe Gray at the Time Warner Building. It was amazing. I was out buying books and this restaurant was recommended to me. While I was sitting at the bar having a salad and a glass of wine I noticed how everyone gets so dressed here in the city. Even on a Tuesday evening. When I say dressed I mean meticulous, well coiffed and refined. I have said that there is nothing sexier then a man in a tux, but I think a dark suit is just as sexy. Tonight I am going back to my little hang-out at Time Warner to try another restaurant called Landmarc. Stay Tuned.

Where's my Box?
Before coming to New York I decided to pack a box full of my favorite clothes and handbags. Things I don't get to wear in Aspen. High heels, dresses, skirts and some of my favorite Chanel handbags. I shipped this box 2-day so that it would arrive the day after I did. I was so excited to wear a skirt or a dress out. My box was delivered 3 days after it was supposed to arrive and then rejected because the doorman didn't recognize my name. So now my box is traveling back to Aspen only to come back to New York again because all of my mail is being forwarded. So this small problem has left me no choice but to do the obvious. Go shopping!!
